Women and youth have been empowered through training and job creation
We are committed to building a sustainable future for Turkana and beyond. Join us in making a difference
What We Do
01.
— Clean Cooking Initiatives (Women in Energy Program)
• Goal: Empower women by providing access to clean cooking solutions, reducing reliance on traditional wood-based fuels.
• Activities:
o Distribute 10,000 energy-efficient cookstoves by 2030.
o Conduct awareness campaigns on health and environmental benefits of clean cooking.
o Provide training for women entrepreneurs to distribute and maintain cookstoves.
• Target Impact: 5,000 households adopting clean cooking technologies annually by 2030.
02.
— Provision of Solar Lanterns
• Goal: Ensure rural households have access to affordable and reliable solar lighting solutions.
• Activities:
o Distribute 20,000 solar lanterns in off-grid areas.
o Partner with local manufacturers and suppliers to provide affordable products.
o Train households on solar lantern use and maintenance.
• Target Impact: Reduce kerosene use by 70% in Turkana households by 2030.
03.
— Capacity Building and Training on Energy Technologies
Goal: Equip community members with skills in renewable energy technologies for self-reliance and job creation.
• Activities:
o Organize biannual workshops on solar PV installation, biogas systems, and energy-efficient technologies.
o Develop partnerships with technical training institutions for certifications.
o Train 1,000 community members by 2030, with at least 50% women participation.
• Target Impact: Increase the local workforce’s capacity to support sustainable energy initiatives.
04.
— Climate Change Resilience
Goal: Enhance community resilience to climate change through adaptation and mitigation projects.
• Activities:
o Implement community tree-planting programs, targeting 1 million trees by 2030.
o Introduce water harvesting and irrigation technologies in arid regions.
o Educate communities on climate-smart agriculture practices.
• Target Impact: Restore 5,000 hectares of degraded land and reduce climate-related
05.
— Renewable Energy for Schools and Health Centers
Many schools and health centers in Turkana lack reliable electricity, affecting education and healthcare services. This program focuses on installing solar energy systems in rural schools and health centers, ensuring that:
- Students can study after dark with proper lighting.
- Health centers have power for refrigeration of vaccines and essential medical equipment.
- Clean and sustainable energy reduces operational costs.
06.
— Sustainable Energy for Livelihoods
Energy access plays a crucial role in improving livelihoods. This program promotes the use of solar-powered irrigation systems, water pumps, and cold storage units for farmers and fishermen. Key benefits include:
- Increased agricultural productivity and food security.
- Empowering fishermen with solar-powered cold storage to preserve fish for longer.
- Reducing dependency on fossil fuels and enhancing income generation.
What We Care For!

Access to Clean and Affordable Energy
